Infographic - Why Assistant Principals Are Needed

Strong schools require strong support systems — and assistant principals play a critical role in helping students succeed every day.
Responsibilities placed on school leadership teams continue to evolve. Today’s assistant principals help support:
- Student learning
- Behavior and discipline support
- School safety and threat assessment responsibilities
- Teacher evaluation and instructional support
- Positive school culture and student well-being
Like all staffing positions in our district, assistant principal positions are based on student enrollment and the needs of each individual school community. More students often require more support — not just for academics, but for safety, relationships, interventions, and daily operations that help schools run effectively.
Over the past decade, schools have also experienced significant changes in state laws and expectations related to student discipline, threat assessment, and teacher evaluation systems. These changes have increased the level of leadership and support needed in our buildings to ensure schools remain safe, well-managed, and focused on learning.
Assistant principals are not “extra” positions — they are part of the team that helps create environments where students can thrive and teachers can focus on teaching.
Strong leadership. Strong support. Stronger together.
