Gray Araiza, Band Teacher, Frontier Middle School
Gray Araiza joins Frontier Middle School as our new Band and Choral Teacher. A recent Master of Music in Music Education graduate from the University of Oregon, Gray brings experience in band, choir, and marching ensembles, along with a passion for building inclusive, supportive music communities.
Mark Bailey, SPED Life Essentials Teacher, Columbia Middle School
Mark Bailey is a Special Education teacher at Columbia Middle School in Moses Lake, WA. He teaches in the Life Essentials program, supporting students with diverse learning needs. Mark earned his B.A. in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. He is completing his M.A. in Special Education in 2025. Mark is passionate about helping students build independence, confidence, and lifelong skills.
Melanie Balls, Speech Language Pathologist, Special Services
Melanie Balls joins the Moses Lake School District as our new Speech-Language Pathologist. With nine years of experience serving elementary students in Idaho, Melanie brings expertise in speech, language, and AAC therapies. She is passionate about supporting students’ communication skills through collaboration with teachers, families, and staff.

Jenna Bare joins Moses Lake High School as a History Teacher. A recent graduate of Washington State University with endorsements in Social Studies and English Language Arts, Jenna is passionate about creating engaging, inclusive classrooms that inspire students to think critically and become lifelong learners.
Nick Berg, Math Teacher, Moses Lake High School
Nicholas Berg returns to Moses Lake High School as a Math Teacher. A Moses Lake High graduate, Nicholas earned a Master’s in Mathematics from Washington State University and a Master’s in Teaching from Western Governors University. He is passionate about helping students succeed in Algebra and Geometry while supporting extracurriculars like football, track, and Math Team.
Matthew Boyce, SPED Resource Room Teacher, Special Services
Matthew Boyce joins Columbia Middle School as a Special Education Teacher, supporting students in ELA and Math. He recently completed his Master’s in Teaching Special Education at Western Governors University and brings experience in individualized instruction, collaborative learning, and student advocacy. Matthew is committed to creating a supportive, inclusive classroom where every student can thrive.
Aleksey Bozhinov, Music Teacher, Garden Heights Elementary
Aleksey Bozhinov joins our district as an Elementary Music Teacher. He recently earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Eastern Washington University and completed his student teaching at Longfellow Elementary. Aleksey is passionate about creating a supportive and engaging classroom where students can explore music, build confidence, and develop teamwork skills.
Rachel Buchanan, Medical Assisting Instructor, CB Tech
Rachel Buchanan joins Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center as a Medical Assisting Instructor. With over 15 years of nursing experience, including emergency care and hospice admissions, Rachel brings a wealth of clinical expertise and a passion for teaching. She is committed to empowering students with the skills, compassion, and confidence needed to succeed in healthcare careers.
Stella Bychkov, Occupational Therapist, Special Services
Stella Bychkov joins MLSD as an Occupational Therapist for the 2025–26 school year. She earned her Master of Occupational Therapy from Eastern Washington University and has experience serving students across several school districts. Stella is passionate about helping students thrive through client-centered, occupation-based interventions.
Camille Carpenter, Science Teacher, Moses Lake High School
Camille Carpenter joins MLHS as a Science Teacher. She earned her degree in Chemistry from Southern Utah University and is pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching at Western Governors University. Camille brings experience as a substitute teacher, coach, and lab technician, and is excited to continue her family’s legacy as a third-generation science teacher in Moses Lake.
Collin Christensen, Science Teacher, Moses Lake High School
Collin Christensen returns to MLHS as a Science Teacher. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology Education from BYU–Idaho and has two years of teaching experience, including student teaching in biology. Collin enjoys creating engaging classroom communities where students learn through curiosity and scientific inquiry.
Jasmyne DeBeaumont, SPED Life Essentials, Frontier Middle School
Jasmyne DeBeaumont joins Frontier Middle School as a Special Education Teacher in the Life Essentials program. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Western Governors University and has over eight years of experience in the Moses Lake School District, including roles as a paraeducator, substitute, and classroom teacher. Jasmyne is dedicated to creating inclusive, supportive learning environments where every student can succeed.
Daniel Delarosa, 4th Grade Teacher, Midway Elementary
Daniel DelaRosa joins Midway Elementary as a 4th Grade Teacher. A graduate of Eastern Washington University with degrees in Psychology and Elementary Education, he brings experience as a student teacher, substitute teacher, and Migrant Graduation Specialist in the Warden School District. Daniel is passionate about building strong relationships with students and helping them reach their full potential.
Vaughn Fairbanks, Science Teacher, Columbia Middle School
Vaughn Fairbanks joins Columbia Middle School as a Middle School Science Teacher. A Moses Lake High School graduate, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Chemistry minor from Brigham Young University, a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College, and a Master of Arts in Secondary Science Education from Western Governors University. Vaughn brings more than a decade of teaching experience in middle and high school science, mathematics, and college-level health sciences. He is dedicated to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning in his students.
Carol Green, History Teacher, Columbia Middle School
We’re excited to welcome Carol Green back to Columbia Middle School as our new 8th Grade History Teacher. She holds a Master’s in English as a Second Language and has served in leadership roles such as AVID Site Coordinator and Social Studies Department Chair. Carol is passionate about building a supportive classroom where students feel inspired to learn and grow.
Marta Guerrero, 4th Grade Teacher, North Elementary
North Elementary is excited to welcome Marta Guerrero as our new 4th Grade Teacher. Marta comes to us from the Wenatchee School District, where she taught for many years and also served as a team leader. She holds a Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Fluent in Spanish, Marta is passionate about building strong relationships with families and supporting all learners through inclusive, research-based strategies.
Staci Held, SPED Life Skills, Park Orchard Elementary
Park Orchard Elementary is excited to welcome Staci Held as our new Elementary Special Education Life Skills Teacher. Staci previously taught Life Skills and Transition at North Beach School District, where she developed individualized programs to support students’ academic, behavioral, and social growth. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and is completing her Master’s in Special Education. Staci is passionate about creating a supportive environment where every student can thrive and reach their fullest potential.
Haley Krejci, 5th Grade Teacher, Park Orchard Elementary
Haley Krejci has returned to Park Orchard Elementary, bringing her enthusiasm and creativity to the 5th grade classroom. With experience teaching both 3rd and 5th grade, she offers a thoughtful and inclusive approach to student learning. Haley is actively involved in school leadership and professional development, contributing to a strong collaborative culture.
Caprice Logan, Psychologist, Special Services
Caprice Logan is a dedicated School Psychologist with over 30 years of experience in education. She has worked with students from preschool through age 21 in both in-person and remote roles. Caprice brings a strong background in special education and a deep understanding of student and family needs. Her personal experiences as a parent shape her compassionate, collaborative approach. She’s excited to join the Moses Lake team.
David Maldonado, Math Teacher and Assistant Coach for Girls Soccer, Moses Lake High School
David Maldonado has joined Moses Lake High School as a new math teacher, bringing a strong academic foundation and a passion for student learning. A graduate of Washington State University with a Master in Teaching and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, he’s eager to create inclusive and engaging experiences in the classroom. David also looks forward to supporting students through coaching and STEM-related activities. His addition strengthens the school’s commitment to academic excellence.
David is also the new Assistant Girls Soccer Coac. During his student teaching year, David gained valuable coaching experience volunteering with girls’ soccer and basketball, as well as boys’ soccer teams. Passionate about fostering sportsmanship and positive relationships, he is excited to support student athletes and students alike as he begins his teaching career at MLHS.
Allison McCarthy, Counselor, Garden Heights Elementary
Allison McCarthy joins Garden Heights Elementary as our new School Counselor, bringing a wealth of compassion and expertise to the role. She holds a Master of Education in School Counseling from Auburn University and has a strong academic background in psychology and sociology. Her experience includes impactful internships at Midway Elementary and Columbia Middle School, where she supported students through social-emotional learning and behavioral interventions. Before entering the counseling field, Allison ran a successful wellness practice, giving her a unique perspective on holistic student support. She's excited to help foster resilience, empathy, and academic growth in every child she works with.
Courtney Meek, CTE Teacher, Moses Lake High School
Courtney Meek is a dedicated educator with a passion for early childhood education and Career and Technical Education (CTE). With experience as a CTE Child Development Teacher and Substitute Teacher at Moses Lake School District, she’s skilled in creating engaging, real-world learning experiences for students. Courtney is currently advancing her qualifications through the CTE Certification Program and is committed to fostering student growth in a supportive, inclusive environment. She’s excited to contribute her expertise and enthusiasm to the Moses Lake High School community.
Danielle Merkley, Music Teacher, Larson Heights Elementary/Vanguard Academy
Danielle Merkley is a passionate music educator with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Brigham Young University Idaho. She currently owns Merkley Music Studio, where she teaches private piano and flute lessons. Danielle has also taught K-5 music at Lakeview Terrace Elementary and student-taught at Thunder Ridge High School. She is dedicated to creating engaging, inclusive music programs that inspire students of all ages to explore and develop their musical talents.
Lori Messina, Occupational Therapist, Special Services
Lori Messina is an experienced Occupational Therapist with over 24 years in the field, including 16 years in school-based therapy. She joins the Moses Lake School District as an Occupational Therapist in Special Services, bringing her expertise in evaluations, therapy, and collaboration with school teams to support student success.
Brittanie Petersen, CTE Teacher, Moses Lake High School
Brittanie Petersen is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher at Moses Lake High School, specializing in Family and Consumer Sciences. With over 13 years of teaching experience, she has a strong background in business, marketing, and health education. Brittanie is passionate about student development and program growth, having led successful initiatives like a large DECA chapter.
Ryan Porter, CTE Teacher, Vanguard/Moses Lake High School
Ryan Porter joins the Moses Lake School District as a CTE Ag Construction and STEM teacher at Vanguard Academy. He holds an Associate's Degree in Machining Technology from North Idaho College and brings over 25 years of experience in welding, along with teaching roles at Big Bend Community College and Columbia Basin Tech. Ryan is committed to providing hands-on, real-world learning experiences that empower students to thrive in the trades.
Benjamin Rawlinson, Social Studies Teacher, Vanguard
Ben Rawlinson joins Vanguard Academy as a Social Studies teacher, bringing over 11 years of teaching experience. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History Education from BYU-Idaho and a Master of Arts in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University. Ben is passionate about fostering literacy and critical thinking skills in students, preparing them for success both in higher education and the workforce. His diverse background includes coaching football, wrestling, and golf, as well as working with students in grades 6-12 across multiple districts.

Katherine Richmond is an experienced educator with a Master's in Teaching from Western Governors University. She has taught English Language Arts across middle and high school levels, working with diverse student populations, including English Language Learners and students with special needs. Shiann Robnett is an enthusiastic educator with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Western Governors University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Health and Physical Education at Eastern Washington University. With over seven years of experience in the Moses Lake School District, Shiann has taught science and math, including middle school grades and remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cris Tupen joins Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center as a CTE Fire Science teacher. He retired as an Operations Captain after 32 years with the Seattle Fire Department, where he served as a firefighter, engineer, lieutenant, and captain. With extensive experience in operations, training, and emergency response, Cris is dedicated to preparing students with the knowledge and skills needed for success in fire science and public safety careers.
Mark Ward, PE Teacher, Moses Lake High School
Mark Ward is joining Moses Lake High School as a Health and Physical Education teacher. He brings 34 years of teaching experience at the secondary level and holds a Master of Science in Physical Education. He is passionate about supporting student growth, building positive relationships, and encouraging lifelong wellness.
Kevin White, Band Director, Moses Lake High School
Kevin White is joining Moses Lake High School as the new Band Director. He recently graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Kevin has experience teaching percussion, directing ensembles, and supporting student musicians in both classroom and extracurricular settings. Lindsay Erickson joins Garden Heights Elementary as a Paraeducator Specialist – EL. She brings over 10 years of experience in teaching and student support, including classroom instruction, ELL education, and online teaching. Dacian Garza is completing an Associate’s in Early Childhood Education at Big Bend Community College. He brings strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills from his experience as an Arcade Attendant and volunteer work. Jose Guillen-Esquibel joins Endeavor Middle School as a Paraeducator Generalist.
