MLSD Opens Applications for 2025–26 Student Board Representatives

Moses Lake School District is now accepting applications for up to four Student Representatives to serve on the School Board of Directors for the 2025–2026 school year.
These non-voting positions offer a unique opportunity for high school students to represent their peers, share student perspectives at regular board meetings, and actively contribute to districtwide decision-making.
“We value student voice at every level,” said Ryan Shannon, director of public relations for the Moses Lake School District. “These student representatives help ensure the Board stays connected to the real experiences, needs, and ideas of those we serve.”
Who Can Apply?
The opportunity is open to students who will be in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade next school year and who attend:
-
Moses Lake High School
-
Vanguard Academy
-
MLSD Digital Learning Center
Ideal candidates are passionate about leadership, eager to represent student interests, and ready to engage in important conversations about the future of Moses Lake schools.
Why It Matters
Student Representatives serve as a bridge between their peers and the Board. They attend school board meetings, report on student issues and initiatives, and gather feedback from their schools to bring forward during discussions. While they do not vote, their role is influential in shaping dialogue and providing youth insight into district policies and priorities.
This year, the district is expanding representation by selecting up to four students—ensuring a more diverse range of voices and school sites are included.
How to Apply
Applications are available online or can be picked up at each school’s main office.
📅 The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 22, 2025.
