Moses Lake High School Welding Team Shines at Big Bend Community College Competition
Moses Lake High School welding students demonstrated their skill and craftsmanship at the recent welding competition hosted by Big Bend Community College. Competing against students from other regional high schools, the MLHS teams showcased their talent, creativity, and teamwork.
The competition challenged students to create metal sculptures representing their school mascots. Two MLHS teams earned top-three finishes, with one team taking second place for their bold Mavericks bull design mounted on a sawhorse, and another securing third place with a dynamic bucking bull sculpture. Their success highlights the dedication and expertise of our welding students, who continue to refine their technical abilities through hands-on experience and competition.
MLHS welding instructor Jimmy Herrin praised the students for their outstanding performances and noted that competitions like these prepare them for future opportunities in the industry. One MLHS team has now qualified for the state competition later this month, continuing their journey toward excellence.
Events like these underscore the value of skilled trades and the bright futures available to students who pursue technical education. The Moses Lake School District is proud of our welding students for representing our school with talent, determination, and school spirit. Congratulations, Mavericks!
