Phipps Named Principal at Frontier Middle School

MOSES LAKE, WA – Following an extensive search, Moses Lake School District has selected Katie Phipps as the next principal of Frontier Middle School.
Phipps currently serves as the district’s assistant executive director of secondary teaching and learning, a role she has held since July 2025. Prior to joining the district office, she served as principal of Warden High School for four years and previously taught at both Frontier Middle School and Moses Lake High School.
A graduate of Moses Lake High School, Phipps earned her bachelor’s degree from Washington State University and later completed her administrative certification through Central Washington University.
“Katie brings a strong combination of instructional leadership, relationship-building, and a deep understanding of our community,” said Superintendent Carol Lewis.
As principal, Phipps will oversee the day-to-day operations of Frontier Middle School while continuing to focus on student achievement, school culture, and creating opportunities for every student to succeed.
“I am honored to return to Frontier Middle School in this new capacity,” said Phipps. “Frontier holds a special place in my heart. I look forward to working alongside our students, staff, and families to build on the great work already happening at Frontier while continuing to create an environment where every student feels supported, challenged, and connected.”
During her time in district leadership, Phipps helped support curriculum development, standards alignment, assessment systems, professional learning, and secondary school improvement efforts. Her transition to Frontier reflects the district’s continued commitment to strong instructional leadership at the building level.
“She has helped lead important work to strengthen teaching and learning across our secondary schools, and we are excited to see her bring those experiences to Frontier Middle School,” said Voni Walker, executive director of teaching and learning. “Her familiarity with Frontier, commitment to students, and passion for supporting staff make her an excellent fit for this role.”
Phipps will begin her duties as principal on July 1.
