The Moses Lake School District is seeking dedicated community members to join its Community Engagement Board. This unique opportunity allows volunteers to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and families throughout the district.
The CEB plays a vital role in addressing challenges related to school attendance and engagement. By fostering positive connections between families, schools, and local resources, the board helps create solutions that empower students to succeed in their educational journey. Establishing this bridge is crucial in ensuring that families feel supported, students remain connected to their education, and the community works together toward a shared goal of academic and personal success.
The CEB creates a collaborative space where diverse voices can come together to address barriers, share resources, and inspire innovative approaches to student support. This effort helps lay the foundation for a brighter future, one where every student has the tools and encouragement needed to thrive.
“Addressing attendance issues requires collaboration between schools, families, and the community. With only 69.7% of students statewide attending school 90% or more of the time, many districts face similar challenges,” said Nicholas Bontrager, MLSD Director of Data Assessment Systems and State and Federal Programs. “Community Engagement Boards offer a proven alternative to court intervention, helping students and families address attendance barriers early. We encourage our community to join this effort and make a lasting impact.”
