At its regular meeting on April 2, the Moses Lake School District Board of Directors recognized staff excellence, reviewed key policy and governance items, and advanced important planning work tied to the 2026–27 school year and long-term district financial stewardship.
Recognition
The board began the evening by celebrating National Board Certified Teachers and members of the district’s classified staff, recognizing the professionalism, dedication, and daily impact these employees
have on student success across Moses Lake schools.
Consent Agenda Approved
The board approved the consent agenda, which included:
- Personnel recommendations
- Accounts payable and payroll
- Budget status reporting
- Student travel requests
These routine approvals help ensure continued operational support for schools and district programs.
Policy Review Continues
As part of old business, the board continued discussion on Policy 6971: Works of Art, supporting ongoing governance review of district policy and procedures related to art in school facilities and public spaces. Policy 6791 passed via board vote.
Under new business, the board also reviewed Policy 5254: Staff Expression, continuing its commitment to ensuring district policy remains clear, current, and aligned with legal and professional expectations. The measure was held over for a second reading during the April 16, 2026 meeting.
Executive Session
The board entered an executive session during the board meeting to discuss a potential litigation situation.
Planning Ahead for 2026–27
A key item of new business included review of the proposed 2026–27 district calendar, an important planning milestone that supports students, families, and staff in preparing for the upcoming school year.
The board also considered a bond delegation resolution, part of the district’s long-range financial planning and stewardship work tied to facility and capital needs. Both passed by board vote.
