MLSD Students Excel at State SkillsUSA Welding & Fabrication Competition

Three talented students from Moses Lake School District—William Bennett, Connor Nelson, and Roenin Matosich—secured 5th place in the Welding and Fabrication contest at the Washington State Leadership & Skills Conference (SLSC). The competition was held at Clover Park Technical College in Lakewood, Washington, as part of SkillsUSA Washington’s premier annual event.
The SLSC, which took place from March 27–29, brought together top student competitors from across the state to demonstrate their skills in technical and leadership contests. The Welding and Fabrication contest challenged teams to design, fabricate, and assemble a complex metal structure within a limited timeframe, testing their precision, teamwork, and technical expertise.
Achieving a top-five finish in such a competitive field is a testament to the dedication and skill of William, Connor, and Roenin. Their performance reflects the strength of MLSD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and the support of their instructors and mentors.
The Washington State Leadership & Skills Conference is a cornerstone event for SkillsUSA Washington, offering students opportunities to showcase their talents, gain industry feedback, and connect with peers and professionals. The conference culminated in an awards ceremony celebrating the achievements of all participants.
We extend our congratulations to William, Connor, and Roenin for their outstanding accomplishment and for representing Moses Lake School District with excellence.
