Sandhop Named AD of the Year

MOSES LAKE, WA — The Washington Secondary School Athletic Administrators Association (WSSAAA) has named Loren Sandhop, Athletic Director at Moses Lake High School, as the 2024–2025 Washington State Athletic Director of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes Sandhop’s exemplary leadership, commitment to student-athletes, and lasting contributions to interscholastic athletics across the state.
Sandhop, representing WSSAAA District 5, was selected based on a rigorous set of criteria, including educational leadership and by being a significant impact on students and the broader school community. His selection highlights his dedication to fostering high-quality athletic programs that enrich the educational experience.
Sandhop has been a cornerstone of Moses Lake High School’s athletic programs. Beyond his local contributions, he has played significant roles at the state level, including the WIAA Representative Assembly and the WIAA Executive Board. In 2023, he received the Gareth Giles Award, recognizing his exemplary service and leadership in interscholastic athletics.

Sandhop’s commitment to student-athletes was especially evident during the 2024–2025 school year when he helped lead efforts to secure funding for extracurricular programs amid district budget challenges. His advocacy ensured that students continued to have access to vital sports and activities, reinforcing his belief in the importance of extracurriculars in education.
The WSSAAA’s Athletic Director of the Year award is presented annually to a leader who exemplifies excellence in athletic administration, mentorship, and advocacy. Sandhop's recognition underscores his unwavering dedication to fostering athletic programs that enrich students' lives and uphold the values of sportsmanship and community engagement.
